About Daffie's
Hi! I am Daphne, 25 years young and have been the owner of Daffie's for almost 4 years now. Creativity but also mental health are very important to me. I notice that when I am busy with my hands, a few hours fly by and there is actually little that makes me calmer. I started the webshop with the desire to make the hobby market a bit more modern, in the meantime my goal has become a lot broader than just that!
With Daffie's I try to convey both the love for creativity and the slow life mentality. I hope that the DIY packages can offer everyone some peace of mind in an increasingly busy world.

Eco friendly and people conscious business practices

I think it has become clear to all of us lately that things are not going so well in the world at the moment. Small changes can make a big difference when everyone participates! That is why I have always asked myself when purchasing products what the most 'green' option is. I also think it is important to outsource the packing and shipping of the packages to a social workplace. In the past this was Nora works, they unfortunately stopped and now I work together with Ons label in Breda. Here too, people work with a distance to the labor market who can participate at their own pace in this way.
So far I have consciously made the following choices:

-
The shipping boxes are made from recycled biodegradable cardboard.
-
The filling in the packages are water-soluble, non-harmful starch granules instead of plastic granules.
-
Purchasing is done where possible within Europe instead of Asia, so you have shorter transport lines and therefore less pollution. At the moment there is 1 supplier in Asia, we have all goods come over by train instead of by plane.
-
The candle wax in the packages does not contain paraffin and only certified palm oil of known origin and not associated with deforestation.
-
The Gietzeep contains no harmful microplastics, is vegetable based and not tested on animals.
-
Manuals are not printed in the box but can be downloaded online via a QR code. This saves us a lot of paper! They often have many pages and even though I think it is nice to just get it in a booklet, I still thought it was more important to go for the 'green' alternative.

Every choice I face I will continue to make the same consideration. In this way I hope to contribute my bit!
