Looking for fun (creative) things to do at home with a group of friends or your partner? I've made a top 8! Suitable for young and old, beginners and advanced and everything in between 😄. An afternoon of being creative is super relaxing and even more fun to do with a group of friends, have a cup of tea and get crafting!

Top 8 fun things to do at home:
Making soap
Clay with air drying clay
DIYs with paper
Making candles
Making candies
Modern embroidery
Making scented hangers
Mosaics
1) Making soap

Making soap is a very fun and relaxing project. You can make all kinds of different soaps, the combinations of scent, color and dried flowers for decoration are endless. It is also a fun way to make products that you use on a daily basis. Extra tip: give leftover soaps as a gift! Handmade usable items are often appreciated. Do you want to get started with making soap yourself? We have many complete starter packages in the webshop!
2) Claying with air drying clay
Clay is a great way to relax and create something beautiful at the same time. Air-drying clay does not need to go into a special ceramic oven, but you can still make ceramic-effect works by applying a glossy sealer layer! For example, make a candle holder or plant pots with the clay, paint them with acrylic paint and finish them with an extra glossy sealer. Tip; this is extra fun to do with a group of friends! With a complete starter pack of clay with everything on it, it is like taking a pottery workshop at home because all pottery techniques are covered!
3) Making paper flowers + Making your own paper

With paper or a thin sheet of cardboard you can do much more than you think. It is a cheap material with which you can fold all sorts of things, origami can be a bit complicated but even without too many complicated folds you can easily cut out a book of flowers! Youtube is full of tutorials and with relatively few supplies you can entertain yourself for an entire afternoon and learn something new at the same time. We also have a DIY package for making your own crepe paper flowers. Also fun but slightly different; making your own paper ! You can easily make sheets of paper with a nice structure from leftover old paper that you still have lying around. You can then use the sheets of self-made paper for a line drawing or poem. I also like to use the paper as a background for framed dried flowers. The paper has much more character than other types of paper that can be found in the store.
4) Making candles
Candle making is a fun and relaxing activity, and the result is also really usable, which is always a bonus. By making candles yourself, you can also recycle old burnt-out candle pots, for example. Tip; go to the thrift store, you will find a lot of nice unique teacups and pots to pour a candle into. You can also use leftover old candles and re-melt them to pour a whole new candle. This way you only need a piece of new wick! Also nice; By adding scented oil to your liquid candle wax you can make a nice scented candle!
5) Making chocolates
If you have a sweet tooth, then making chocolates is a fun project for you! You can make all sorts of different flavors and shapes, and it's a great way to improve your culinary skills. Making chocolates yourself is also very easy, all you need is a silicone mold with preferably smaller shapes. Choose your favorite flavors, melt chocolate and get started. A more detailed tutorial? Youtube is full of good videos :)
6) Learn modern embroidery
Embroidery is an old art form, but with modern techniques and fabrics it is back! It is a fun way to relax and create something beautiful at the same time. In my opinion it is the most relaxing activity on the list. With only needle and thread you can make old pillowcases, tote bags, t-shirts, caps etc. unique to your own taste. Also fun; a complete embroidery kit! With a modern embroidery kit for beginners you will learn the tricks of embroidery in no time, you will soon have a nice self-made piece to hang on the wall and you can use your newly learned embroidery skills again in the future. This hobby does not require a lot of focus anymore so it is ideal to do with a group of friends, chatting and embroidering at the same time goes well together!
7) Make decorative scented hangers

Making scented hangers is one of the easiest DIYs on the list but also one with a lot of creative freedom! You decide for yourself how you want to decorate them, for example with beautiful dried flowers or gemstones, feathers, buttons, glitter you name it! You give them a nice scent and can hang them in the closet, hallway or bathroom on a string for a nice decorative element that also spreads a nice scent. Of course we have also made a DIY package for this! You can find it via the link.

8) Mosaics
A hobby that you may remember from the past but is now making a real revival, mosaic! At Christmas I got started with my family and the first version of a new DIY package was tested and that was a great success! You can really go in all directions with this, from a modern Picasso-inspired deco face, a nice house number sign, or a flower meadow. You can spend as much time on this as you want and can easily fill an entire day with it. Cutting stones, puzzling with the shape and color combinations, sticking and grouting the stones, it is all very relaxing and nice work that really everyone can do! At the moment the mosaic DIY package is still in development but there are many other webshops where you can go for nice sets! Tip; visit Pinterest for lots of cool inspiration.
These are just a few of the many fun things you can do at home. Think about what suits you and what makes you happy, and get started! In addition to a number of the hobbies mentioned, we have many more fun DIY packages in the webshop, worth taking a look at if I say so myself 😉
Fun things to do with your girlfriends; Why this top 8?
You might wonder why this top 8 consists entirely of creative hobbies. I notice that I am most relaxed when I am working with my hands, whether it is cooking, gardening or a creative hobby. Working on something beautiful with a group of friends or individually gives everyone the space to have good conversations in a relaxed setting. It can also be really funny when things go completely wrong, I speak from experience 😅. Nothing has to be perfect and it is actually fun to be able to help each other! In the end you will also have (if all goes well 😉) a nice souvenir of the afternoon.
Extra fun; there are also scientifically proven benefits to working creatively with your hands! It improves your mood because it reduces the production of cortisol, the stress hormone. It also stimulates the neurological connections in the brain, which can lead to improved cognitive functions and increased creativity in the long term! Enough reasons to make the next girls' outing a creative hobby afternoon.
